Hello, we are Terrance Linda Soltow.
In 2019 my mom had a stroke. After dealing with the related problems such as no more driving, and limited mobility, she developed some health issues that seemed to be heart related. Fatigue, sleeping all the time, lethargic and so on. Two weeks in the hospital and multiple tests showed no physical issues. The doctor had one word to describe her condition “Depression”. Lack of social activity, a depressing stay in a nursing home, my dad and aunt passing, and having no hope of any type of meaningful life she was giving up. I began to look for a way to change her environment and improve her outlook. After finding a positive assisted living apartment, where the staff understands the need for meaningful activities with people her own age. I moved her on a Wednesday in a wheelchair which for the past two months she was resigned to. Three days after moving her into the new apartment Linda and I went for a visit. Mom was in the dining hall finishing lunch, so we entered the apartment and waited. The door made a noise of someone entering, we expected to see the nurse or an aid returning mom in her wheelchair. To our surprise and utter amazement mom came walking in alone with the aid of a walker. She has continued to improve since then.
Attitude and environment made all the difference.
The Purpose
To get right to the point: As retired senior adults Linda and I offer a unique perspective on retirement. We created a presentation that is designed to motivate those 55 and older to develop a healthier approach to retirement.
We currently hold presentations in public libraries, social clubs, and churches. Basically, anywhere that can reach people who will benefit from the talks.
Realizing that you may have those in your organization who need a boost over the “I’m too old” hurdle also known as the “Retirement Curse!” We are offering this specialized program for free.
If you have people who would benefit, or you would like to reach this growing group of people, hosting our presentation is a great way to see the potential in this outreach. Contact us if you would like to schedule a free presentation.

The Need
In 1975, when we were in college, the Social Security Administration declared the average total SS payout was 18 checks. The retirement age then was 62. That meant the average US adult life expectancy was 64. Today that number is 78 plus. In the past figuring out what to do with yourself for 18 months after retirement was limited. However today we are looking at an average of 14 YEARS or MORE!
According to US statistics the number of those living past 85 is on the rise and expected to reach 15,000,000 (that’s fifteen million) by 2050. Not only is this true but the number of those reaching 100 is also on the rise. In 2020 1 in 6 people in the US were 65 or older, that’s 55 million people with another 12% 55-65 years of age, that is an additional 27 million people. Is it any wonder 55+ communities have attracted the attention of big business. 82 million people total! 55 million of those with more time on their hands, many have no idea what to do with themselves. Many are quietly suffering. How many are in your community?
Our Past experience.
For 40 years we assisted senior adults through various capacities of ministry. Over the years we’ve witnessed thousands of individuals as they faced the challenges of growing older.
Sadly, many of those we’ve encountered seemed lost as to what to do with themselves after retirement. Those who have remained active seemed to live a much happier, healthier life than their counterparts.
A Retirement Plan
Having witnessed others as they approached retirement, Linda and I laid out a path for our own “golden years”. Now with three years of retirement under our belts, we are more confident today than when we started, that the path we chose is the right one.
We realized taking knowledge gained through experience and sharing it with others who are retired, or approaching retirement, we could encourage and spur them on to a more rewarding senior adult life.
The Presentation
With that goal in mind, we began sharing a presentation that is expressed in the 55+ header above.
There is no charge for these presentations, they provide a look back, a look forward, and a challenge to find their future.
We do not tell people how to live, rather we encourage them to find ways to make their lives have greater meaning. In many cases we help them see their value in a time when many feel their value has passed.
Great talking with you
